May 2010
The PriDE Site Maintenance Team at Arborfield have received the Garrison Commander’s Commendation for their outstanding and underpinning contribution to operational output in maintaining the Garrison’s built estate. Over the last 18 months they have significantly improved their understanding of how the estate supports not only current but also emerging training. This new found knowledge now informs all key maintenance decisions, enabling the team to direct scarce resources effectively. This was exemplified recently when a combination of innovative thought, a can-do approach, the employment of cutting edge building techniques and early engagement with the Authority, returned to service a number of previously closed facilities. Equally important is their agile and timely response to threats to the provision of the essential services. This was clearly demonstrated when the Garrison water-main froze in January, leaving the Garrison without water. Although not their responsibility, the team took control of the situation and, through expedient repair, restored all services within 24 hours. For this act alone they are wholly deserving of this Garrison Commander’s Commendation.
