1750 staff get new work space and fitness suite

Delivery

The refurbishment of an existing office block to provide 14,500m² of modern headquarters office accommodation. The conversion of existing buildings into a gymnasium and fitness suite and the demolition of an office block and creation of a 10,000m² gardens.

Innovation

The project established an entirely self-enclosed site within the station boundary, thereby relieving the resource burden of any support the station may otherwise have had to provide.

The HQ accommodation is an entirely flexible floor space, designed to provide an extremely versatile office capable of continual redesign by the End User.

Added Value

Integration of facilities management into the design process was ensured. Additionally the incorporation of many legacy issues with the existing building into the project meant that the optimum long-term solutions were delivered to the client and management team.

Background

The aim of this project was to provide a modern, integrated and contemporary facility, which is technologically advanced, flexible, sustainable and cost effective in providing headquarters and office support accommodation for HQ LAND Forces. Using, wherever possible, existing buildings and infrastructure, the project has provided office facilities for over 1750 service and civilian personnel. Demolition of an existing office block, and the provision of a large landscaped area was required, as well as the modification of a building to provide a new HQ facility, and the conversion of part of another building to provide a modern gymnasium and fitness suite facilities.
