PriDE manages Defence Estates’ South East Regional Prime Contract (SE RPC). Valued at around £380m, the SE RPC is one of five regional prime contracts currently in place in the UK.
Site: RAF High Wycombe
Project: Command HQ Co-Location (Nimrod Block)
Refurbishment of an existing, dilapidated, two-storey barrack block into modern open plan office accommodation.
A profiled aluminium over-roof, avoided alterations to an already weak structure and reduced the programme period.
Materials from an adjacent demolition project were crushed and utilised as sub-base for the new Nimrod car park.
Circa £2.5m - Delivered in 31 weeks.
RAF High Wycombe is the HQ of the RAF Air Command and HQs of three Air Groups.
The RAF was tasked to consider the long-term affordability and disposition of its two respective Comd HQs at RAF Innsworth and RAF High Wycombe. The final report recommended the co-location of both Comd HQs at RAF High Wycombe owing to its already comprehensive infrastructure. Ministers endorsed this recommendation on 16 June 2005.
This office development is part of the enabling requirement to support the RAF HQ Co-Location Project.
The building to be refurbished was in a poor state of repair with two structural cracking faults which virtually split the building into three.
