Background

Under the Personnel First MOD initiative the barracks with the poorest grade accommodation blocks have been given a major internal facelift, designed to improve the quality of the lives for the occupants during the next four years, whilst they await the delivery of full SLA upgrade. These blocks were assigned funding due to the poor state and PriDE’s Minor New Works team set about work in May 2009 in order to complete the work for soldiers due to occupy the facilities. The buildings were in very bad condition and the improvement works included complete rewiring, refurbishment of all wet areas, redecoration throughout, flooring and all new furniture.

Energy efficient lighting and Passive Infrared Sensors have been fitted in all communal areas.

The work has had a very positive impact on the customer community and has been well received throughout.
