Background

There was a great need to refurbish rooms and ablutions in five accommodation blocks, built in the 1940s, at Elizabeth Barracks. The project involved:

• Asbestos removal
• Ceilings
• Boilers
• Reconfiguration & refurbishment of ablutions
• Floor coverings
• Lighting
• And state of the art fire systems with RF interface

Energy conservation was taken into account introducing water saving showers, taps and ablution facilities and energy saving lighting. Consideration was also given to product efficiency and ongoing lifecycle maintenance in the selection of modern innovative building techniques, products and materials.
