Background

The fractured nature of the provision of training for Army instructors was a key driver for change behind the requirement for this project. It was deemed essential that all instructors’ training should be brought together to one purpose built facility at an establishment where recruit training occurred. The direct involvement with real recruits could then be a core element of the instructors’ training syllabus.

ATR Pirbright is a busy training establishment and the ASLS site was located at its heart creating safety, environmental and logistical constraints.
