A plethora of facilities helping the Army’s restructure in the South East

Delivery

This project involved a programme of works in accordance with the Woolwich Development Project, a series of work to accommodate operational changes within the Army; including displacement of personnel and support services formerly located at Chelsea Barracks.

Innovation

The team utilised a derelict building by completely renovating it and using it as site offices during the construction period.

A medical centre was created and the team took advantage of natural ventilation within the facility, whilst maintaining compliance with medical infection control standards.

Industry leading environmental reporting and management systems were used to facilitate sustainable information.

Added Value

The site offices mentioned above were handed to the client, providing valuable storage and extra facilities that would have otherwise been obsolete.

PriDE’s contracting and consulting team, experienced in delivering military projects and understanding military drivers, was able to develop and maintain excellent communications with the client teams, thereby ensuring a successful delivery.

Background

This entire project consisted of the provision of the following facilities: a newly built medical centre, an armoury refurbishment, operations rooms, storage facilities, controlled entry point, car park, Counter Terrorism Measures (CTM), infrastructure, amenities and landscaping to the gardens within the historical grounds. The decontamination and restitution of soils prior to the commencement of building works provided a positive impact to the environment, and was in keeping with the MOD’s aim to be held as the number one Government department in Sustainable Development.
